About the Business
I worked for 9 years in voluntary helpline and face to face counselling with people contemplating suicide and with parents experiencing stress and was accredited as a psychodynamic counsellor in 1985 (BACP). In 1995 I qualified as a Jungian analyst (Society of Analytical Psychology www.thesap.org.uk). All psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapists must undergo their own therapy in order to develop an understanding of themselves and the way their minds work. This is particularly important for this work because therapists must be very careful not to impose their own ideas or wishes upon another person and must, therefore, know as much as possible about their own feelings and their own difficulties in life and guard against any wishes they may have to influence or direct an individual who comes for therapy. My own therapy has been a deep and extensive journey into myself which has supported me, not only in my work, but also in my life.
